''Glavny starshina'' ((ロシア語:Гла́вный старшина́; literal: chief/ senior petty officer)) is in the Navy of the Russian Federation the designation to the second highest rank in the ''patty officer´s career group''. The rank is equivalent to ''Starshij sershant'' in Army and Air Force. According to NATO-ranksystem the rank might be comparable to OR-7 in Anglophone armed forces. The rank was introduced to the Soviet Navy 1940 to 1943.
